East High School’s Capstone students recently took a field trip to Carey Junior High, bringing their programming knowledge and creativity to the next generation of learners. The visit was part of an outreach effort to show junior high students what coding can do—and how fun it can be.
Throughout the day, Capstone students presented a variety of their ongoing projects, from interactive games and websites to robotics demonstrations and simple coding activities. The goal was to spark curiosity among the junior high students and give them a preview of what they can look forward to when they reach high school.
“The students at Carey were really engaged,” said one Capstone participant. “They asked a ton of questions and even had their own ideas for projects they’d like to make someday.”
Teachers from both schools praised the event for building a bridge between the two programs. For the Capstone students, the visit gave them valuable experience in explaining technical concepts to others, while the Carey students got a firsthand look at how programming connects creativity and problem-solving.
As the Capstone class continues its projects back at East High, students hope their visit left a lasting impression. By sharing their work, they not only showcased what they’ve learned but also encouraged the next wave of young innovators to give coding a try.
